Quarter of A Life
A solo creation for theatre
Synopsis
Quarter of a life approaches the body as an archive, a journey through the past, the present and the future. Thoughts and memories add up through gestures and rhythms and transparently expose different physical states between exhaustion and relief. Free, the body of the dancer carries the voice, giving way to speech and singing when the movements are no longer enough.
Quarter of a life is a creation that wants to bring the artist and the audience closer together and create an intimate atmosphere that overflows beyond the stage. By keeping the integrity of her body and artistic practice, the artist exposes herself in this solo with transparency. Little by little, the public gets to know her with the privilege and the weight of being integrated into her story. While establishing an intimate atmosphere, the beauty of life is revealed.
Maybe it's about self-affirmation, almost a story of honor. Like a novel, it is a narrative carried by one and interpreted by others.
The creative process
I'm interested in the potential of body language. Mainly using improvisation as a mode of exploration and creation, I research the notions of authenticity, meaning, presence and awareness. Working without a mirror allows me to establish an honest relationship with my body. This patient exploration is conducive to a bodily understanding and not a search for aesthetics.
How to dive deeper into a bodily experience like that of dance and live art? How do you stimulate your curiosity, learn to know your body and its abilities better? How to translate by the composition of the movement, instantaneous or not, my desires and intentions?
I recognize the power that each movement has to express something new. It is important for me to allow potential meaning to emerge. My body practice tends to develop a sharp awareness of my body as a communication tool towards an audience.
